Independent consultancy | Fully remote across Europe | Up to approximately 15 hours per week

Lung Cancer Europe is looking for an experienced HR and Compliance Advisor to support our growing pan-European organisation.

This is a part-time, virtual advisory role for someone who can provide practical, proportionate advice across human resources, compliance and governance.

The successful candidate will work on a self-employed, independent contractor basis.

About Lung Cancer Europe

Lung Cancer Europe is the pan-European umbrella organisation for lung cancer patient advocacy.

We bring together organisations from across Europe to improve outcomes for people affected by lung cancer. Our work covers policy, research and awareness, including equitable access to early detection, innovative treatment and high-quality care.

About the role

The HR and Compliance Advisor will provide specialist advice and support to our President, Board and operations team.

The role will include:

  • Advising on HR policies and procedures

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and offboarding

  • Providing confidential advice on employee relations

  • Supporting the management of confidential HR records

  • Advising on remuneration, benefits and working arrangements across a distributed, multi-country team

  • Supporting our compliance framework, including GDPR, safeguarding and conflicts of interest

  • Maintaining governance documents, policy registers and the organisational risk register

  • Monitoring relevant legal and regulatory developments

  • Supporting due diligence for partnerships, grants and contractor engagements

  • Preparing compliance updates for the Board

  • Providing relevant input into funding applications and partner agreements

Attendance at the Lung Cancer Europe Annual Conference in April will form part of the engagement. Reasonable travel and accommodation costs will be covered in line with our expenses policy.

Who we are looking for

You should have:

  • Experience in an HR and/or compliance role, ideally within a non-profit, charity or membership organisation

  • Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements across European jurisdictions

  • A sound understanding of employment good practice

  • The ability to work independently within a virtual, distributed team

  • Excellent judgement and discretion when handling confidential information

  • Strong written and spoken English

  • Confidence working with a Board, senior volunteers and patient advocates

  • The ability to provide services on a self-employed, independent contractor basis

A formal HR qualification, such as CIPD or equivalent, would be an advantage.

Experience within a pan-European organisation, patient advocacy, healthcare or the wider non-profit sector would also be useful. Additional European languages and experience supporting Board governance are desirable.
